Acheta Domesticus

Acheta domesticus is one of the most interesting entomological species for the production of proteins for human consumption thanks to its high nutritional value. The insect is now massively reared using specially formulated flours. With a view to a more sustainable production of the insect, the MAIC project- Edible insects breeding model -, intends to investigate the possibility of breeding A. domesticus on alternative substrates from waste from the agri-food chain. In addition to evaluating the growth performance of the insect on such substrates, knowledge on the chemical composition and microbiological characteristics of the flours produced are also deepened.
The project objectives and the first data acquired will be illustrated in the presentation / poster.
